In the Library you can’t miss Greenway’s unexpected treasure; a frieze painted during World War Two by Lt Marshall Lee, a member of the US.. Coast Guard stationed at the house in the run up to the D Day landings.

Back in the 1980s, Ken Cuming's obsession with railwayana started to out-grow his house. The final straw for wife, Patricia Cuming, came in 1986 when Ken purchased a huge 27-ton railway engine from Falmouth Docks. As good fortune would have it, the couple spotted that the old cinema had become available in St. Marychurch and they bravely took the plunge to turn their hobby into a family business. torre abbey

The story of Torre Abbey began on 25 March 1196 with the arrival of an abbot and six canons at Torre (the area from which the later names of Torquay and Torbay are derived).  They had been sent from Welbeck Abbey in Nottinghamshire, following a gift of land from the lord of the manor of Torre, William Brewer.

There's so much to see and explore above and below the five decks of the Golden Hind Museum Ship in Brixham, with many hands on-exhibits, giving visitors of all ages a wonderful insight into life aboard Sir Francis Drake's Tudor galleon. The Ship is open from spring to autumn come rain or shine and is an all-weather attraction with indoor displays as well as wide open decks.

Our half-day tours are perfect for beginners, novices and those with some skills already, you can expect to see Seals and several remote coves where we will stop at a beach to toast marshmallows and create rock art. Our full day Geopark Safaris are even more relaxed than our half days. With more time we can catch our lunch and cook it on the beach. Buckfast Abbey forms part of an active Benedictine monastery at Buckfast, near Buckfastleigh, Devon, England. Buckfast first became home to an abbey in 1018. The first Benedictine abbey was followed by a Savignac abbey constructed on the site of the current abbey in 1134.
